| What are Rivets? |
Rivets are used to create a neat, permanent fixing, especially
where the head of the rivet adds to the decorative finish of the assembled article.
The type of rivet which we produce requires a "rivet setting machine" together with
the necessary tooling to be set correctly. Full details of such machinery are available on request.
Solid, Part-Tubular and Semi-Tubular rivets are normally used for joining together hard materials which
have been pre drilled to accept the rivet. Softer materials such as leather, fibre board, cardboard
and certain woods may be adjoined by using Tubular (deep hole, thin wall) and Bifurcated rivets.
These may be used as a self piercing attachment and require no pre drilling, however the correct rivet-setting
machinery is still required.
Self piercing rivets are also available in hardened Boron Steel material and these are capable of joining
together hard materials without the need for pre drilling.
The rivets which we produce range in size from 15 gauge (.072" dia,) x 1/16" long up to 3 gauge
(1/4" dia.) x 2" long. See size and selection chart for full availability.
